The Mapper first shows all the SEAMAP data from which you can filter them by:
- Species,
- Datasets,
- Locations, and/or
- Time period.
Once you have created a map, you can download the data as a CSV file.
The Mapper provides advanced features such as uploading your shapefile, overlaying additional layers, saving the map state for later use.
This button takes you to the Data Provider FAQ page.
In the Data Provider FAQ page, you'll learn:
- Minumum data requirements;
- Acceptable data format;

- The list of species shows up below the map.
- Click the species name and you'll be taken to the Species Profile page where you can download the data for that species.
- Note that the Species Search page has more search options such as "Protected status" and "Taxonomic tree" and more features. [Browse Species Information] takes you to that page.
Searching for data by location is done by drawing a rectangular region on the map.
In the map above:
- Draw your region of interest by clicking

- The data on the map is filtered by the region.
- The list of species below the map represents those found in the region.
- From the list, you can go to the Species Profile page.
- Note that you can do a similar location search in the Dataset Search/Species Search pages with more search options available. [Search for a Specific Dataset] and [Browse Species Information] take you to these pages.
This button takes you to the Dataset Search page.
In the Dataset Search page you can search for a dataset by:
- Data provider name,
- One or more species that the datasets observed,
- Survey platforms (ship, airplane, shore, telemetry data),
- Taxonomic group,
- or any keywords.
This button takes you to the Species Search page.
In the Species Search page you can search species by:
- Species common or scientific name,
- Taxonomic tree,
- Protected status under US Endangered Species Act,
