Major Renovation to Version 4

In February 2021, a major renovation was made on the OBIS-SEAMAP web site on both interface and functionality and we now call it version 4.

While OBIS-SEAMAP provides a lot of information, the new interface gives you more direct, less complicated access to the information with more organized panels. Along with a well-thought layout of information panels, the new mapping tool displays observation maps with a much larger view. The mapping tool also provides more flexible charting features. Moreover, the download feature is improved and you can even download a dataset without displaying it on the map.

Whether you are an experienced visitor to the previous version or excited to explore the marine megavertebrate data as a newcomer, we recommend taking a look at the Highlights of the version 4 (slideshow). Online Help will be helpful, too, to get familiar with the new interface and functionality.

Upon the release of the new version, we are happy to announce that the mapping tool for the predicted density of marine mammals and sea turtles in the U.S. Pacific and Gulf of Alaska is now released to the public.
Also, OBIS data imported in OBIS-SEAMAP are completely refreshed after a long dormant period resulting in more than 1.7 million records from 300 datasets registered into OBIS-SEAMAP.
