Spatial query with a region crossing the international date line is now possible

We are pleased to announce an improvement on the spatial query with the Advanced Search. The improvement allows you to draw a region of interest crossing the international date line and extract the sighting and trackline data within the region. This capability is particularly useful for migratory species that can travel across the Pacific Ocean (e.g. loggerhead sea turtles).

Previously, you had to split the region into two, each in the eastern and western hemispheres.

There is a minor limitation. You can't put together two regions of interest, one of which crosses the international date line and the other the Greenwich Meridian (0 degree longitude). You can draw any number of regions as long as this limitation is not applied.
