The primary objective of the Stenella Abundance Research Line Transect and Ecosystem (STAR-LITE) cruise was to investigate spatial and temporal variability and line-transect methodologies in the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. The project used a multidisciplinary approach. This survey was conducted by the NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center aboard NOAA ship McArthur II for a combined total of approximately 9,500 kilometers surveyed from late August to late November 2007. This dataset provides the time-date and geographical coordinates, by species/stock, of all cetaceans detected during the survey, as well as the daily and intra-daily start and end points of the line-transect survey. The primary objective of this survey was to investigate spatial and temporal variability and line-transect methodologies (closing versus passing mode) in the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean using a multidisciplinary approach. This dataset is supplemental to the following datasets:
