Basic Information
| Attribute | Description | |

| Title, Full | Optional | The complete dataset title. The full title does not appear on the OBIS-SEAMAP web pages but internally stored in the database Can be same as Title, Short. |
| Title, Short | Required | A short, succinct version of the title. This title appears on the OBIS-SEAMAP web pages. Can be same as Title, Full. |
| Data Provider | Required | The name of your organization. Person's name is allowed. |
| Provider URL | Optional | The URL you want the user to visit to know more about the dataset. The link to this URL is put on the provider name. |
| Provider Logo URL | Optional | The URL to your organization logo. The logo appears left to the provider name. It is recommended you send the logo image file (GIF/PNG/JPEG) to OBIS-SEAMAP, so that it is stored in the OBIS-SEAMAP system and never becomes a broken link. |
| Edition | Optional | Your dataset edition. At this moment, this attirbute is not used. |
Description
| Attribute | Description | |

| Abstract | Required | Abstract of your dataset. If there is a publication related to this dataset, the abstract of the publicaion can be used. This appears as "Abstract" under [Information] tab. |
| Purpose | Optional | Purpose of the research the dataset was collected from. This appears as "Purpose" under [Information] tab. |
| Supplemental Information | Optional | Additional information about the dataset such as collection methods. This appears as "Supplemental Information" under [Information] tab. |
| Dataset Credit | Optional | Organizations or persons to give credit such as funding sources and/or collaborators. This appears as "Dataset credit" under [Information] tab. If kept blank, the provider name will be inserted. |
Provider contact
Your contact information. If you have correct contact information with your account, just check "Use your contact." The fields are automatically filled with your contact information.
To edit your contact, click [Edit].
You can also enter different contact information by checking "Enter different contact." This does not affect your account contact or your other datasets, if you have.
Keywords (optional)
There are two types of keywords: theme and place. Enter appropriate keywords.
These are searched but do not appear on the pages. They are also stored in a FGDC-compliant metadata document.
References (optional)
References (up to three) for your dataset. The first reference becomes the citation to your dataset. If kept blank, the basic information is used as the citation.
Status (optional)
Describe the constraints for use of your dataset. If kept blank, the standard OBIS-SEAMAP constraints are applied.
Attribute Description (optional)
Describe each attribute of your dataset. Some fields are added by OBIS-SEAMAP.
Note that only coordinates/date and time/species information are publicly available. Other fields are stored in the OBIS-SEAMAP database but not released without your permission.
