Query & Summary Help
Introduction
Observaion Query & Summary page gives you power and flexibility to extract your observation records of interest. This feature crosses over the entire OBIS-SEAMAP database and extracts observation records that match your criteria and summarizes them. It also provides download/map capability of the extracted observations.
This page can be also reached from the online mapper by clicking [Add]-[Query].

Spatial interest
To narrow observations to a certain area, specify a rectangular area with upper and lower longitudes and latitudes in decial degree. For your convenience, Google Map assists you to define an rectanglar area.
The following instruction will help you use the picker.

Note:
- The picker is two-way, meaning if you edit the coordinate boxes by hand and popup the picker again, the rectangle is adjusted to your rvised location.
- You can see the current mouse position and the determined positions of the rectangle in decimal degree under the Google Map (notated "Current location" and Extent selected).
How to specify a polygon for Spatial interest
The Google Map extent picker is a fast and convenient way to draw your area of interest if it is a rectangle. For spatial interest with any shape other than a rectangle, the online mapper provides a polygon drawing tool.
Time period
There are two distinctive ways of specifing time periods.
The first one specifies a start date and an optional end date. Enter the year and select a month and a day for your start date of interest, and end date if needed. Observations that recorded between the start/end dates (including the two dates) are selected. If the end date is blank, obseravtions from the start date up to now are selected.
The second way allows you to choose months of years if you are interested in a particular season of year(s). Check one or more months and optionaly specify a start/end date. If you aggregate the result by year while checking one or more months on, the summary shows year by year changes with only observations in those months specified.
