Oceanographic data sampled for observations
We proudly introduce a new feature to the OBIS-SEAMAP web site and its data. Now all the observations including telemetry data are associated with oceanographic data. Oceanographic data are sampled against various satellite images based on the location and date of the observation.
Oceanographic data include sea surface temperature, sea surface height and chlorophyll. Temporal averages are available for yearly, monthly and daily (or 8 days or weekly) time scales. The sampled values are viewed online and included in the downloaded shapefile and CSV file. We are currently expanding data types and temporal availability, especially toward most recent years. Once we are done with this, we will let you know.
For more details, switch to the [Environment] tab in the Dataset or Species Profile page. Also, please refer to the online help.
Please note that the data availability varies by data type and thus observations may not have sampled values for certain data types. For example, chlorophyll images are only available since 1997. Observations older than 1997 cannot be used to sample for chlorophyll.
