El presente proyecto de valoración de servicios ecosistémicos se desarrolló basado en tres componentes centrales, buscando realizar un énfasis en dos servicios ecosistémicos principalmente mediante la investigación para la generación de información primaria de la Isla Cayos de Serranilla. Los servicios ecosistémicos que se enfatizaron en el trabajo de campo de esta expedición 2017 fueron el servicio de provisión de hábitat y refugio de biodiversidad con enfoque a la conectividad ecosistémica (macroalgas, y complejidad topográfica submarina, composición, abundancia y biomasa de peces) y el servicio de protección costera descrito en el componente de protección costera. Se lograron metas bien representativas, como la toma de muestras de amplia biodiversidad de macroalgas, el levantamiento de complejidad topográfica submarina en 14 estaciones y su relación con el servicio ecosistémico de hábitat para peces arrecifales y la instalación de sensores de oleaje en dos puntos estratégicos incluyendo un punto expuesto al oleaje oceánico por fuera de la barrera arrecifal.
Este recurso en particular consigna la información de peces censados visualmente durante la expedición Seaflower 2017 con un total de 58 registros.
