DFO Central and Arctic Multi-species Stock Assessment Surveys

OBIS and OBIS Canada

The Fisheries and Oceans Canada Central and Arctic Region multi-species stock assessment surveys began in 1999 and are planned to continue indefinitely. Seven survey areas are defined within the spatial extents outlined here; northern NAFO 0A, southern NAFO 0A, NAFO 0B,SFA0, SFA1, SFA3 and western Hudson Strait. From 2006, the area surveyed alternates between NAFO 0A/SFA0&1 in even numbered years and SFA3/NAFO 0B/western Hudson Strait in odd numbered years.

This dataset is the OBIS version of the stock assessment survey and only species presence information is included at this time for the years 2005-2015.

This dataset was downloaded from OBIS (https://obis.org/). The records for only marine mammals, seabirds, sea turtles and rays and sharks were extracted. Records with no longitude/latitude or no date (eventDate) were excluded.
